Birthday and Cat Catchup

Hi, Long time no blog I know… Well there is not much to catch up on..

A couple of weeks back I went to a mates 30th at the Richmond in the city. My mate has moved over to Melbourne, so it was really nice to catch up with him. I had a couple of beers but I soon felt sick, I am finding these days that I have no tolerance for alcohol, be it beer or spirits, whenever I drink it I feal sick and have to almost force the drink down, lucky hey that I don’t drink much.

This week I had my birthday. It was nice, especially since my brother (who lives at his university in Canberra) came over just for my birthday. It was a cool time, Especially my birthday dinner. It was just me and my family, but we had a little 5 year olds birthday party which included:

  • Fairy bread (on French stick, which made the bread a little crusty) but I have to say, it was good when I was a kid, and still is!!! If you have not had it in a while, or have never had any, ask me and I’ll make some for you :-P
  • Cocktail weenies, Yum, with tomato sauce.
  • Cold chicken (ok, not a kids food, but still cool)
  • A finding nemo cake (Not an officially licensed cake, but it still had the characters out of the film on it)
  • Lollies and lots more lollies.
  • Coke
  • Cabana and metworst

All in all it was an enjoyable night, I have not had a gig for my birthday with anyone out of my family and it does not look like I will have one.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been making a track out to my universities Mawson Lakes campus to do a subject that they apparently do not have the computers for in the city( which they do have in the city, but I guess the convenience of the computers being in the room next to the tutor is to much of a temptation for the staff). The subject is ok, the other student are annoying, but it is over in 2 weeks, so I am happy.

Anyway, when I go out there, I manage to cross the paths of a good friend, Cat. It is really really (yes 2 reallys) nice to meet up with her as I seldom get to chat with her these days, however we only meet for quite a short time, so I must try to fix that.

Ohh, I’ll leave on the note, I have finally got my final grade back for my last semesters studies, I got a credit, which I was very surprised with, I was almost expecting a fail.

Oh well,

Philosophy, Grrrr…

Yet another late night when I cannot sleep.

Yet, I think I have a bit more of a positive outlook than last time I bloged.

I have started all of my subjects for uni this semester. It looks like I will have allot of work to do this semester, especially reading. A couple of things I am facing this semester at uni include:

  • A subject being taught in half the time of a normal subject as the lecturer will not be in Adelaide for long, But I do get a long break before I do my exam.
  • A subject which is philosophy based. We got a big 400 page book in the first week to read in the first 4 weeks of the course. But the style of writing is the big killer. The writing uses heaps of big words, uses heaps of useless words and it does not have a good flow (it is very circular, I think…). In my mind it is just to make the author think they are good.
  • My third challenge is a subject which has 70% of its total assessment based on group work with the remanding 30% allocated towards an exam solely due to the fact that my part of uni make exams compulsory.

However 2 of the subject I quite like the object/intention behind the subjects.

Anyhoo, a quick observation. I like boxes!!! Not boxes with pretty pictures on them (the craft kind), but boxes that you get new stuff in. I say this as I have an aversion to throwing away boxes I buy new things in, a most recent case of this is my new TV which I bought over a week ago, However I will chuck this box out over the weekend :-P I think I keep boxes as it allows me to hold on to the feeling of when I first bought the thing that is in a box in question.

Anyhoo, have fun, and thanks for reading this circular, nonsense piece of writing to make myself feel good, hmmm, maybe I should be a philosophiser, Nah, they are much worse…
