It Is Over!!

YAY, My last semester of my undergraduate Life is over (Although I could have graduated at the end of last year, Stupid uni admin idiots!)

All I have to do now is wait for my results to com back. I have a varying degree in what I expect from my marks, all the way from a HD for one subject to a Pass for another subject)

I have not got much planed for my holidays, but I do have a couple of things on the cards. I think I will try to get up to see my friend at port Pirrie to see the new house that he has bought.

I am also going to try to do a couple of things I have tried to do in past holidays, but never achieved, namely learning to drive my mums manual car, and going to swim for fitness / fun..

This week, I ordered a KVM switch over the internet to connect my 2 computers to the same monitor, Keyboard and mouse. I was very impressed, I ordered the switch over the internet at 4PM from Sydney, and it turned up the next morning. I did freak out a little when I first set the switch up, after plugging it into my old computer, the display card in the computer decided to give up the ghost. Fortunately I had upgraded the card at one stage and had kept the old card, so I simply replaced the card. The switch was not also performing very well when swapping between the 2 computers with the signal on the display getting all screwed up, But that has improved now.

Anyhoo, I’ll see what happens I guess and take it easy..

Study habits

I have been a very busy person over the past week studying for a subject that I have an exam for on coming Monday. Unfortunately I decided to undertake this subject externally, bad mistake!! I had done no study (well practically no study) for the subject during the semester, instead I took this time to do other work.

So this week has been solid study to prepare/learn a whole subject for the exam. I don’t think doing another external subject is on the cards for me in the near future.

I thought this sets the scene as a good opportunity to give an insight into my study habits. I am a big believer in exams over assignments, for sure!!

Generally my study habit during a semester consist of attending all lectures and tutorials. I do all assignments and do a majority of the reading. However, it is common for me to aim to do catch-up work in the mid semester break, which never eventuates..

I don’t like assignments as a replacement for of exams for subjects, as in my experience they take a good week to complete. (In one case 2 weeks of solid work, 10am to 10 pm in a group of 3 people). My university also have a stupid rule that assignments are not allowed to be scheduled in exam time, so it shortens the time the a subject runs over, which is not a good thing. I usually put less time exams than into assignments, unless I have done nothing for the subject.

I do not believe I go very well in exams, but in my mind I find them less stressful, and hey, life is about enjoyment!! I think I also learn a lot more from an exam as they broaden my knowledge instead of assessing a narrow component of my knowledge. That pretty much sums up my preference for exams over assignments.

Most of the time I leave my assignments to the last minute, I really cannot apply myself to working on them effectively. Even when I m in a room with only the assignment I seem to get nowhere. My most recent experience of this was my work placement where I had a couple of weeks of sitting in a room with only my assignment, all day, and not really achieving much for the majority of the time.

However the couple of days / nights before an assignment is due, I seem to gain a magical motivation towards the assignment. It is amazing, I actually love the assignments at this stage and wonder why I do not manage to effectively work on and research the assignments beforehand. I put this down to a fear of making decisions that I believe I have. However in the last couple of days I am forced into making decisions and taking pathways to the assignment, I believe this explains my success and love of the assignment at this stage. Maybe the love is through the deliriousness of being up so late.

Those are my thoughts for the moment.. Have fun!

Coffee

Previously I did mention that I was giving up coke.. This got me to talking to a friend about coffee, I guess it’s all caffeine related.

Anyway, I did not drink coffee at all. I don’t even like coffee flavoured food. I think a little of this stems from my mums love of coffee. When I was younger she drank upward of 12 cups per day. She decided not to drink it anymore and she got very sick. This gave me a fear of coffee. So I never drank the stuff. Since coffee is a little powerful if you have never had it before, I did not like it, and hence did not start drinking it.

Anyway, when I was working I was involved In a couple of business meetings at a café close by. So to be polite and to fit in I did have a couple of cappuccinos and coffees. At first they were awful, but they did get better. I am no lover of coffee now, but I can now bare drinking them.

I'm not sure wether I did the correct thing putting myself out to drink them or not.. I wounder what the look on my face must have been like when I first drank the cappuccino.

Oh well. That’s all

Coke addiction..

I love coke!!! In the past I have drunk insane amounts of it. Before mid last year, I was drinking about 1.5 L of coke per day. However about mid way through last year I decided to stop drinking coke all together. I did this successfully, I also managed to drop 10 KG from 90 KG.. I was also going to restart swimming to get fit, however I never managed to organise myself to start swimming.

When I was not drinking coke I would only drink it when I went out (and usually with scotch) However about Marchish this year, when I re took up drinking coke on a regular basis. Howevere, this Friday past I decided to address the problem, s once again I ma not drinking coke anymore. I have actually had a bit of a headache, how pathetic hey. Anyway, this time I hope to start swimming again to keep up my fitness.

Oh well, Cheerio!!

Exams...

Hey… Well I have not been bloging much recently, so I though I should put in a little burst of blogs…

Today I went into work to have a little morning tea to say goodbye to me. It ended up quite well..

At the moment I am meant to be studying for some exams for uni, however that is not really happening. I think this is a good opportunity to talk about my study habits..

I have a huge fear of failure, and I am over realistic, so therefore I find faults in everything and fear attempting tasks, so to address I avoid doing the tasks!! In terms of uni work this means avoiding doing the uni work.. A couple of things I do when I avoid uni work include looking at stuff on the internet, watching TV and cleaning up.

In terms of cleaning up, I have heaps at the moment to clean up. As I have a new desk I have decided to have a clean workspace. Since I did share the room with my messy sister recently, there is a little bit of cleaning up to do.

Anyhoo they are my current thoughts.

Crazy Life

Hey everyone… I have had a fun week this week, Lots of baddish things happening, but it has been a cool ride..

On Saturday I got my new desk that I have been waiting for. It is a largish desk that would probably be suited more towards a business, but hey, who cares it’s a comfy and good looking desk in my opinion.

Later on the weekend my dog bit my hand {1 & 2} (sorry about the blue hand colour, the camera had some weird colour setting on it, ohh, and the white stuff is excess antiseptic cream, I put heaps on as you can never be too safe). This bit resulted from my attempts to put on my dogs coat, unfortunately he is very possessive, so I am not allowed to touch his coat :-P… I left the hand for a couple of days and it was starting to get more painful, so I went to the doctor and after a 2 hour wait I managed to get some antibiotics and a tetanus shot. It is all good now as it has pretty much cleared up. Unfortunately the dog now lives outside.

On Tuesday I bought a LCD display for my computer {1 & 2}. I was happy, I managed to get the salesman down from $499 to $409. The image is very good, My laptop screen sucks!! Any ho, after having it working for about half an hour I went out of the room to watch a spot of TV, I came back in and it was dead. So, on Wednesday I went to the store and swapped it over for a new one. After waiting for around 40 mins for the guy to test that it was dead, ring up the display company to get approval for a swap over and then get approval from his manager for the swap over I finally got a new one. It has been working for over a day now without any issues :-D What’s more, I have tested it with Nokia Monitor Test, and it has no dead pixels :-D

Oh well back to exam study for me..
