IT Siesta

Hello..

Well last time I bloged I mentioned that was not going to use my PC for a whole day… Well, I managed to stay off my PC for the whole day!!! In fact I did not use the computer after I bloged until the morning after my day without my computer…

So, What did I do without going on my computer, well sadly yes I did imagine using my computer. I did go on a drive to the Brossa Valley with my parents and I did think about buying a computer magazine to read whilst being driven along, however I did not as I would be reading about computers on my IT free day. Anyway, the drive was pretty boring, however I did get a Paddlepop Bubble O Bill ice-cream, my favourite as a kid, however the bubblegum nose tasted like grease :-(

Not much else has happened this week to me, It has been pretty mundane.. Still overworked, underpaid…

Twice this week I walked down to, and through, the Botanical Gardens in the city. They are pretty good, however there are a fair few people there as it is school holidays. This said, the weather was perfect so I cannot really complain. I must say the gardens look very good and if the weather is like what it was this week I will walk down there again!!

Today I mulched up the tree branches of the trees my dada and I cut down a couple of weeks back. I managed to scratch up my arms heaps, but I will live. Luckily I ware long sleave shirts to work so no one will se my scratches :-)

Ohh…. This weekend is a long weekend !!! YAY!!

Ohwell, enough boring and harassing you, Cheerio for now!!

Awards Night

Hey

On Wednesday my friends from uni graduated from their undergraduate university degree. I would have graduated yesterday alongside him, however I am doing a simular degree so the university believe I am therefore not allowed to graduate..

Enough bitching, that night I was privileged with the ability to attend the awards night for my university degree, however I did not win an award. Whilst at the awards I was in a photo with the students in my year at university.

After the awards I attended the after drinks party where I had a little too much alcohol, however everyone had heaps so I really did not really stand out as an idiot, I think…. I cannot really remember much.

One thing I do remember is that Mel, from uni, is from the area where the tribes live from the movie the gods must be crazy. Apparently he can speak their language, I think it is !kang, well I refer to it as the “clickey clock language” as they communicate by making clicking sounds. His parents are also from Alexandria, the townsip from the power of one.

Cheerio.

I’m a True BIS member!!!

I’m a True BIS member!!!

Today I headed into uni to go to a lecture. I also left quite early as I had a fair bit of other work to do… Well, I rock up at uni and sit around for a bit doing my work and decide to check what the lecture topic will be… To my surprise it is currently the mid semester break, hence I had no uni lecture to attend. So I went to uni for no reason.

I think this total disorganisation, and lack of knowledge concerning my surroundings, places me in the best position to claim that I am the perfect model of what a BIS student is.

Oh well.. Cheerio

Cutting Down

So, what has been happening lately??

Work this week has been busy. I have had lots of work to do, but I am enjoying this new type of work a allot!!

This weekend, my dad decided to cut down a couple of tees in our backyard. So after a small amount of time of him working outside by himself I went out to help him. It was fun being destructive… Now, I have to say, we were very unsafe… incidents we had included:

  • A branch coming down and sending a ladder flying sideways about 5 meters. If the ladder had hit anyone it would have been a definite trip to hospital.
  • A branch falling down, nearly knocking me off the shed roof (yep, you got it, I would have had to go to hospital), bending a gutter allot, then falling off the gutter and through our shed window. About 10 cm away from a TV, which was not damaged.
  • A branch falling down and nearly breaking the chainsaw we hired.
  • A branch falling down and landing on our pergola and breaking one of the beams.
  • A branch falling down onto our bird aviary and bending the roof, which we bent back.

Ohwell… so much damage... Luckily no one, including our pets were injured. The scary part is we have some more damage to do…sorry, I mean some more trees to cut down.. These trees to be cut down are out the front of our house, they are larger and closer to the house… I think we might have to be more careful in the future.

Other things of note… A treasured friend of mine, who I chat to allot, is interstate, so I will have lots of time to do stuff, however I would prefer to be chatting!!!!

I notice the crows won the showdown. I’m happy that they won, but I don’t really follow football these days.

Last week I downloaded a free copy of Office 2003 standard. This came form the same Microsoft web site that allowed me to download Visual Studio .Net 20003 for free.. What more is that all of this was fully legal. I’m happy about this.

This week I have a fair amount of uni work to do, I have to catch up on a couple of weeks worth of work on a subject I am doing externally, and therefore have been able to get a little behind.

My web site development has stalled heaps.. It will not be out for a while to come, however it will include a PowerPoint Template that will reflect the style of my website. I don’t know why on earth someone would use the template, or my site. Nevertheless the aim of my web site is to be fun, and I think I am achieving that for the reader and me as the creator!!

However, on that note, whether you on an interstate holiday, or are in a constant work sleep cycle, Embrace my web sites theme, even though it is not public yet, and have as much fun as possible!

You Cannot Kill a Room!!!

Grrrr…..

Jeeze… My mum is crazy… Every time she sees a bug, she gets the fly spray and kills it.

Ok… this normal up to this point, however she then proceeds to partially (big amounts) empty the spray can in the room, so that any living bug in the room will be killed.. This includes emptying cans in rooms with nothing in them (obviously no other bugs). In addition fly spray does not remain around for weeks, it only kills insects on contact.

OK, so why does this annoy me, well I don’t really care about the cost of pointlessly trying to kill a room with fly spray, it’s her money. I care about not having any fly spray after she tries to kill the room. In addition, fly spay does not smell nice / it’s just plain old not nice being near. When she does try to “kill a room” the fly spray wafts throughout the whole hose, so wherever I go I exterminated…

Owelll… bitching over

Cheerio… Have fun!!!!

I hate windows 98!!!

OK….

Last night I stayed up until 6 am fixing my cousins computer…. Hmmmm remind me never again to offer to help fix some ones computer… What had occurred is 2 years she bought a new computer from some guy, they recommended it have windows 98…. Right…. Anyway the idiot formatted the hard drive to 2 G (The original dos disk size limitation), so I had to reformat her PC and so she would be using her whole 40 gig hard drive…. Anyway… to cut a long story short, it worked, after 10 hours, multiple formats and me panicking for 4 hours that I had accidentally forgot to back her computer properly…. Ohwell she did get my mum a job for about a year or so, so what comes around goes around..

Today I got back a mark for a subject that I did over summer (well it also extended a bit into the normal uni year)… Anyway I Got a Credit, however the dam lecture gave me a percentage as well, 73 %, 2% off of a Distinction… Owch… I would have preferred to not know that…. Ohwell...

On a brighter note, My university has stuffed up my fees for my summer semester big time, in my favor, I think… They have now refunded me a whole heap of money, over what I expected to get….. So now according to the uni finance system they now owe me aprox $400… Hopefully if it is a stuffup they will not find out, but me placing this on the internet probably will not help my chances… Maybee it is really compensation for them stuffing me around yesterday.

Anyhoo cheerio… I’m off now… you have fun!!!

HI

Hi, long time no see hey… What has happened??? well :

  • I had a nice 4 day Easter break ,It was a nice… 3 days of bliss and one day of homework..
I had a presentation and assignment for uni after the Easter weekend.. I did really poorly.. Although I was sort of ok with it because no one prepared and it showed. ohwell….
  • Today I decide to walk down the stairs from the 17th floor to the ground floor… It was fun :P although it was a little spooky looking down.
  • Work has been ok recently. The project I am managing seems to be running itself.
  • I have been working on a website… For those of you who have seen it it’s slowly getting their… but thanks for the feedback.
  • I think I did in my calf muscle last night.. (hmmmm maybe walking down 17 floors of stairs with a bad calf muscle was a risky idea when you can only get out on the ground floor.)
  • I found out today that my uni has charged me union fees twice.. a phone call and email later there were removed, people were embarrassed and $2 300 of other fees were removed (I will find out if they over reimbursed me soon I suppose)…
  • My university have not passed on any of my HECS debt onto the tax office from my last semester of last year.. YAY... hopfully they have forgotten.
  • The presentation I talked about in my last post was marked quite well… Tim and I got a Distinction.
  • I now have a Dual layer DVD burner… so I can now burn DVDS… YAY… however all I have done is transfer stuff from CDs onto DVD and thrown out the CDs…
  • I also bought an extra 512 MB of ram for my laptop… so now when I swap between programs they load up strait away instead of taking 10 seconds. I was given some bumstier at the shop about them “loading software” onto the ram to make it specifically for my pc….. meh… I have to wait for it the same amount of time and it cost the same (well it actually cost 1 dollar cheaper cos I tricked the salesman guy who I hated because he was soo pushy) so when they were telling me what they would do, I did not care.
  • I played another game of soccer with my uni friends. This time we went to Jess’s house, played soccer near the Adelaide aquatic center, got tea and beer, ate and then went home.. I think everyone had fun… Rishi aka the Bombay bullet certainly showed his soccer skills!!!
  • Today I bought the DVD The power of one, cool movie I have not seen in ages… hopefully it is still good… I might even pick up a whole heap of stuff that went over my head as a kid…

Ohwell new blog soon… maybe not in bullet for as well :-D

Cheerio Have fun!!
